Built in the 20th century, the house has an area of 5298.3 sqm and a history of over 100 years. Its structure is characterized by Hue traditional folkhouses whichconsists of three main compartments and two subsidiary wings on either side.
The house is situated at a convenient location and owns invaluable interior decoration of traditional folkhouses in Hue with intricate carvings on pitched beams and partitions which proves its unrivaled historical and cultural values.
It was used as a residence for the owner’s family for a long period. Nowadays, the house is dedicated to the worship of military mandarins under the Nguyen dynasty of Doan clan. The altars are arranged in a neat and reverential manner adorned by inscribed horizontal boards and parallel sentences in every compartment of the house.
The surrounded garden is filled with many kinds of perennial trees, especially fruit trees such as Mangosteen, Dragon fruit, Avocado, Baccaurea, Fig fruit, etc. The entrance path is beautifully linedup by manicured hedges of “che tau” (Acalypha siamensis).
After many renovation efforts, this still preserves the traditional features of Hue folkhouse.
