Located at 12/22 Thanh NghiStreet, Thuy Bieu Ward, Hue City, this house was built in the early twentieth century on a land area of 1125.6 sqm.The first owner used to be a captain in the Elephant Army under the Nguyen Dynasty.
In the center of the garden there stands a folkhouse featured with traditional architectural style of single compartment and two wings on either side. It is supported by wooden beams and pillars and covered by multi-layered earthen tile roofs. The house’s trusses, partitions and pillars are adorned with intricate carvings. The sacredworshippingspace apparentlyreflects the traditional ancestral worshipping culture of Hue, decorated with a horizontal lacquer board and parallel sentences. In front of and around the house is a garden with many kinds of fruit trees which seems to be preserved almost intact.
