Situated on a land plot of 1,244 sqm at No. 38 Nguyen HoangStreet, Kim Long Ward of Hue City, the house was first built in 1897. It had been used as a residence for the owner’s family for a very long time before it became the worship place of the clan.
The main building comprises of a three compartments andtwo wings on either side nestled in the center of the garden.The house is featured with wooden pillars and beams, multi-layered earthen tile roofs, and surroundedby brickwalls. Subsidiary buildings stand alongside including a multi-functioned outbuilding and the kitchen. In front of the central compartmentthere is a wooden ceiling board. This house is considered as one of the exemplary folkhouses of Hue. It still retains many authentic features of old garden houses in Hue such as interior artifacts including the lacquered board, parallel inscribed sentences, scrolls, worshipping objects, as well as the system of old-styled gateway and masonry front screen together with the entrance led by two lines of beautifully clipped hedges and areca nut trees.
In 2017, the house was comprehensively restored with the financial support of VND 500 million from the City People’s Committee.
