Located at 51 Thanh Nghi Street, Thuy Bieu Ward of Hue City, this garden house was built in 1890. The main building consists of a 3-compartment folkhouse with two wings on either side, and is covered by earthen tiles.The garden’s area expands over 16,763 sqm, which is filled with multiple kinds of fruit trees, particularly Pomelo and ornamental plants. The first owner of the house used to be the teacher of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu and Nguyen Phuc Nguyen.
This is considered one of the representative garden houses of Hue, whichstill preserves the intricate architectural values of Hue traditional folkhouses in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Inside the house, the deceased owners had decorated it with ancient charm furniture and hanged many meaningful and philosophic lacquered boards and parallel sentences.
The house undergone many repairs in the past, and in 2017, it was comprehensively renovated with the funding of VND 700 million by the City People’s Committee.
