Located on an area of 2884sqm, the house was erected over 180 years ago.It was awarded by Emperor Gia Long to General Le Van Duyet, a politician and talented military mandarin under the Nguyen dynasty. The typical featuresof Hue’s folkhouse include the main frame of wooden pillars and beams makinga three-compartment house covered by earthen tile roofs. The house is adorned by a garden of ornamental or fruit trees and a frontmasonry screen.
Inside the house, many invaluable artifacts stillremain such as royal orders, inscribed parallel sentences, or a pair of bamboo lampstands delicately carved with dragons.
The house was renovated several times, and the latest was in 2013 when the People’s Committee of Hue City funded an amount of nearly VND 100 million.
